When you answer a question and the person doesnt like your reply and takes it upon themselves to email you nasty. Does it bother you. Me it doesnt at all I just ignore it. Much obliged

I just roll my eyes at their immaturity and stupidity before deleting it. Sometimes if I'm feeling in a b*tchy/vindictive mood I'll reply and shoot them down, but most of the time I just let it go.
Reply:Everybody has a human right and it is the right of people to go nasty and do whatever they deem fit. On the other hand it is also your right not to respond negatively to nasty e-mails.


Honestly, if one makes a mistake and you get influenced by it and commit an error it does not make you right. Anger is a vice and therefore,an evil spirit so never to be possessed by the evil spirit of anger. It is devilish so run away from it.

I often send emails containing attachments to people, but I also need to send the same email to some other people but without the attachments. Can this be done? (e.g I need to send some drawings to a consulting engineer but I also want to send the same email message to an Architect in our office but without the attachments as they don't need them.)

I think you are asking if you can create one email message with an attachment, addressed to multiple recipients, and when that email is sent, only some of the recipients receive the message and attachment, while others only receive the message.





If that is correct, I believe the answer is no. A single message with an attachment will be delivered to all the recipients on the email. I cannot find any setting that allows the user to select which recipients receive the attachment.





What I would do is send two emails; one with the attachment to those who need it, then copy the message text into another email for those who don't need the attachment.





Alternately, put the attachment on a shared network drive, or your intranet site, SharePoint site, or other shared workspace where users can download it, then include a hyperlink or path to the document in the email message. That way you can send a single email to the entire group, and no one will be hassled with a large attachment.

I always tell my customers to have no less than 2. One should NEVER EVER be given to anyone except friends and family, and the other should be a web-based with really good spam filtering. You can use that one for newsletters you want to read, or shopping. I really do want to see the Papa John's ad for example.


This is the best way to manage spam.








On a recent job hunt I used a third, just for the job hunt. (ladytechie somehow just didn't seem professional enough!)


You could do the same for any thing where you want all the emails to be on one subject.. say politics or tech newsletters.





I've lost count of the number I really have.. but I regularly check 2 from my ISP and 3 web-based, yahoo and gmail and I do still check the very first one I got years ago, that one is hotmail.

Click on the "TO" button.. When the contacts box pops open hold down your CTRL key on your keyboard and click on all of the contacts you want to send to.. After you have selected the contacts, let up on the CTRL key and click "OK" the contacts should be listed in the "TO" field at that point ..





If you want to send to your whole list click on the top contact then hold down the shift key on your keyboard, then go to the bottom of the list and click on the last contact, at that point all contacts should be highlighted, then let go of the shift key.. Now simply click on the "OK" button and all of your contacts should be listed in the "TO" field

Reply:10-1 it is still there and active. i have seen a bug lately that when you click on 'insert contacts' the address book doesn't show up on the creen, but if you look at the bottom of your browser, it will show that the address book window is open, just not as the primary window. click on the tab and you should be alright. would be nice to know what is causing this, it just started showing up about 2 weeks ago.

Hi. Use your Yahoo Mail contact list to create groups. Click on contacts, then "Add Category". Create a name, e.g. "My Friends" then "Done". Now go through your contact list and put a check by the names of those you want in your "My Friends" category. Then at the top of the page click on "Add to category" and click your Category "My Friends".





Now when you want to send to all your friends you just need to open your new message, click the "To" button which opens your Address Book. At the top you'll see a choice "Categories". Click and choose "My Friends" and all the individual names will appear in "To" and receive your message. If you don't want everyone to see all the names in your category list use the "BCC" when choosing your category and put your own address in the "To" (There has to be at least one address in the "To" line to be sent.





One other thing: you can have the same person(s) in multiple categories.

Reply:Assuming that you have and will be using a Yahoo account.. in your Yahoo email, you can just click on your "Contact/Address Book" and select the names of the people you who want to send the email to. Then click "Send Mail" on the top... and then you can compose the email and send it out to everyone. The names of the contacts that you selected will be automatically added to the email you're composing.. you can make sure of this by checking the "To" line of your email that you're composing.





Another way is to go into your Yahoo email and click on "Compose" See where it says "To" and "Subject"? Click on the "To" and it should bring you to your address book. You can click the names/emails you want to send the email to.. and it will automatically add those contacts to the list of people the email will be going to.

If you're using Yahoo---they require at least one valid address on the TO line---sooooooo--most people just put their own address there and that's the only thing anyone will see.
Reply:You end up doing it exactly like all the spammers do, you use the BCC: line instead of the TO: or CC: lines. Any address on the BCC: line is hidden. If you look at the spam you get, you will often see NO ADDRESS at all, so exactly HOW does it end up in your box? Easy, all addresses were on the BCC: line and hidden from all other recipients. When I do this, I always put my real address on the TO: line so my relatives see I sent it to myself and it is valid and NOT spam.

Will they want to read this email or are you sending them sales stuff that (in their minds) would be considered spam? If you are just plain old doing some advertising, then I really can't blame them if your email ends up in their junk folder. If it is important info, then call them or send them a quick email to begin with to let them know that something else will be coming thru on email from you.

They also point out web sites that can help you that you may not know about ( No one has surf the entire world wide web) So for the most part ,it is better to be open to these e mails. You put their names into the blind carbon copy line of the email. You can put your email address in the to line. You will receive a copy and everyone else will see only your email address, not anyone else's.





In Yahoo!mail, the bbc is after the To: line. Click on that and it will open the place where you put everyone's address.





You can do the same thing in Outlook Express. Just go to the help menu.

There is a "cc:" field under the "to" field, but there is also be a "bcc:" field, which will send it to the recipients in that field without displaying the email addresses.





In Yahoo! this isn't automatically displayed, but there is an option to "Show Bcc" at the top of the window pane.





Just put your own name in the "To" address, and everyone else in the "Bcc" field and everyone will get the email, but only see it was sent to you.

I would much rather reply by email or phone. Proper etiquette? I do not know. In today's busy world, I cannot see how these kinds of replies would be looked upon as tacky. The etiquette was written before email and probably answering machines.





The people you are inviting to your wedding should be family and friends anyway. I pre-stamped my response envelopes however I received phone calls and emails also. They took this upon themselves as I did not offer any choices. I even had a few folks stop by or tell me when I saw them out about town.





This is YOUR wedding, if you want people to reply by Email or phone, ask them to do just that. If someone is so snobbish as to call it tacky, would you want them at the wedding anyway??

Reply:If your wedding is formal then you need to include a stamped envelope and have them return it to you-- if you are doing your wedding before 3pm and it's not really formal, you could send the invites and place all your information on there so that they had an option on how to contact you. Reply:From what I recall looking through my book on etiquette, e-mail and phone should only be used for casual events or a quick get together. This depicts the formality of the event as well as the fact that not everyone uses e-mail or knows how. If it were any other occasion, I don't think it would be such a big deal. You want to send the same mail to all people however with lines in these emails personalized. 4. You already have or are willing to create a flat or more complicated database including contact details of the people you want to send these mails.





Several organizations usually use databases and mail merge. You can use your outlook contacts, an excell file, or a simple database to do that. Such emails could be personalized. I.E. the system will extract names and other personal details of people as long as email addresses and therefore each mail you send will be personalized.





However I am not sure that this is what you want. Furthermore I do not know if you have these email addresses on a database already. For instance do you have them on an excell file, access file, CSV file? PST file?





However if you are trying to do what I imagine, the first thing to do is to create a excell database (an access database would be more functional but more difficult however) and put all the names of people you want to send the addresses and all the mail addresses there.





Then go to Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word.





Choose VIEW from the menu, then TOOLBARS then MAIL MERGE.





The mail merge toolbar will arise and then you have to play with it to see how it works. In the past I have used such system to send hundrents of emails and it works fine.





This answer would be substancially longer if it were to explain every single aspect of this process. However I assume you are willing to experiment with it.





Microsoft as usuall has a tutorial on the issue and microsoft explains the process in far more detailed steps. If you are willing to take this tutorial I guess it would take around 30 minutes. The link for the tutorial is shown bellow.

1) Mostly likely your ISP is blocking you from sending so many email out at once. This is to keep you from spamming.





2) If you are keeping a copy of sent messages, then you may be using up all you available mailbox space (100 email sent means 100 copies of what you sent).

It is not easy to track down the BCC recipients of an e-mail message you received. In order to do so, you would need to contact the administrator for the sender's domain.





That is, if the mail is sent from amadeupaddress@hotmail.com, then one would have to contact the mail administrator for hotmail.com. Abuse@WhereverItWasSentFrom is usually the best guess on where to obtain information on the BCC recipients.





Now, even if the administrators of that domain keep such detailed logs (which most dont), it would be almost impossible for you to get the information out of them. It usally takes something like..um..lets say..oh..A COURT ORDER!!!!

when you send an email and want everyone to have individual emails, you can use BCC. On the "to" list - put in your email address because its required. but on bcc: the rest of the recipients will get the email without seeing each other's email.

They blind carbon copy it. Or bcc it to the other people. You send it to one personally usually as the primary receiver and then blind copy it to all the others. Not knowing what e-mail program you're using it's impossible to tell you where it's located. Blind copying on aol just involves simply putting the addresses in parentheses. I.E. (joeschmoe@aol.com) would blind carbon copy it to Joe Schmoe.

No. They will just click wher it says email (your user name) and it would be just like answering a question. It is then sent to your inbox.

All are clients, so no spam. using Mail() opens a socket connection for each time through the loop, so that's not fast. Thought about using PEAR's Mail package. - Anyone use that before? Also, how do i stay off of spam lists?? There will be an unsubscribe feature and all emails will be to customers, so as not to be spam.

You are right that this is not the best option. Because you will almost 100% be sure to be marked as spam. If you really have that many customers you need a third party system that will not kill your own server. I suggest http://www.constantcontact.com. They are really great! We use them all the time.

I would recommend finding a third party email provider to use their server. There are a lot of policies and legal requirements for emailing to not be considered spam by Email service providers...so this is your best bet to stay whitelisted anyway.

It shouldn't cost you too much to get your emails going with such a small list (compared to their other partners who are emailing a couple million a day)

When I go to forward a message to people in my address book, Yahoo closes. It says that IE has expereinced some kind of problem and will shut down.





I am not sure why ti is doing this, but it doesn't act up otherwise.

256 MB of RAM (yeah I know that I need more)

Yeah YAHOO does some weird stuff at times....I'm currently waiting on a response from an inquiry I made to them myself. See...because their mail service is free...they can pretty do as they please. I have a paid internet service provided by another carrier...but at least with them whenever there is a problem I can contact someone there and get it fixed. There is no particular area to contact for YAHOO....

I'm not sure how you are accessing your address book for forwarding email, but I've found that after you click on "Forward", if you just click on "TO" your address book will open.


This is only used for email. The other one, where you click on the "Addresses" tab is just for editing.
Reply:Are you using Yahoo! Mail Beta? Cause if you are that might be the problem cause Yahoo! Beta still has some flaws. So if your using Yahoo! Mail Beta I would consider switching back to Yahoo! Mail Classic. If your not using Yahoo! Mail Beta I'm not sure what the problem is. Your checking you mail from a web browser right? what browser? Internet Explorer.......? are they up to date?

Go to your create mail page. Click on View.


Click All Headers and a BCC box will appear on your mail page. This means blocked carbon copies. Use it for addresses that you wish others do not see.

If you want to reply to an email you received, click on the blue line that says 'reply to this message' just below the message you received. If you use the bigger one at the top, it'll get lost in cyberspace.
