How to get email addresses of people in a particular city ? Is it legal to email them about any business promo

I would like to create an email database whom I would like to contact to share different business promotions. I would first like to ask their permission to see if they would be interested in getting such emails. If they say 'yes', then I will add them to my email database.


So, first, how can I get email addresses of people in a particular city ? and would it be ok to ask they via email if they would like to be added to my email database?

Honestly, direct marketing via email has very very low open rates coz people are so tired of receiving unsolicited emails in their inboxes.

Reply:If you are running an opt-in list, where they have to actually join to get the mailings, try putting a link to your web site on a site that is already popular with that community. You'd need the permission of the other site's web master but if you made your link look interesting, you would probably have people join.
Reply:A simple approach would be to use direct mail (you can easily buy a list for your chosen area) to approach them, and then encourage them to sign-up.





Id brush up on your knowledge of permission based email cos you can get into lot trouble doing spam (and that is what it would be if you shot gun blast email addresses)

Email marketing is useless...but you can join an optin list that agrees to accept your emails. Then you will avoid spam complaints.
