I am only sending them out to family (we aren't that close anyway.. they live an hour away and I dont' fit in with them anyway). And 1 friend from out of town. So I was going to email soem pictures and make a really cute backgroudn and border. That way everyone can have their own pictures of the baby. They will all come and see him anyway within a few days and I will call some of the family and my friends on the phone anyway. The more distant family (aunts and grandparents) will find out from my parents immediately anyway. The email announcement is more me sharing my excitement and showing off pictures.. and so my grandparents and aunts can hear from me in person (I am not calling the whole family one by one when they dont' hardly talk to me anyway).
How many people send out email birth announcements?
That was what I did. It is just too expensive and time consuming to do anything else right after you have a baby. Then when things calmed down and I wanted to have his first real pictures taken I took him to walmart and for 5 bucks had tons of wallet pics taken. Then sent them in cute cards to everyone. they loved it.
Reply:My cousin did, and we were happy about it because it got to everybody much quicker, with pictures. Especially since he lives 10 hours away.
It's great that all of your family lives so close. Some of us don't have that luxury.
Reply:I'm glad I was born before email; I have one of the adorable birth announcements my parents sent out when I was born. I wouldn't have this sweet keepsake if my mom had just sent out email messages, would I?
Reply:the hospital I delivered at made a little annoucement with my daughter's picture and sent it out for me. I just brought in the list of email addresses of people I wanted to send them too... I think it's an awesome idea. My family loved it. I never even sent out traditional annoucements.
Reply:Thats what I did. What was really nice is the hospital where i had my child made a web page with her hospital picture on it and I sent that out to everyone so they could see her right away. In this day and age and the price of stamps you are better sending it email. What have you done with all the actual picture anouncments you got from everyone else.. hum.. mine are put away with all of my other photos unless its my kids or my nephews I dont display it for long. So save yourself some time and money and go ahead and send it out via email and make sure your close relatives that will be seeing your baby get pictures with the baby thats what matters most. congratulations on your new baby.
Reply:go the old fashion way. just send them by mail
Reply:That sounds fine. Alot of my friends do that nowadays. If they aren't friendly to you then you are very nice just to do this for them. They can even print the pictures out to frame if they want.
