The ones that keep telling you that you have won the lottery that you never entered and the Nigerians trying to give you money.
Where do these people get your email address from?
Often when you register on websites for free stuff, it isn't really free. It comes to you at the cost of your information being sold to marketing companies, who then in turn sell it to many other companies. And soon enough you get all kinds of junk mail both in your mailbox and e-mail, and phone calls. But you can block them by placing yourself on national do not call lists and unsubscribing from their mailings. By law, they have to honor your request.
Best of luck !
Reply:The lottery mails are scams, they just want your bank details to clean out your bank accounts. The Nigerian thing is also a scam ..... Don't be fooled.
If you hit a site, your IP address is flagged then your address is sent on to others or downloaded onto disc %26amp; auctioned off on certain sites like ebay.
One resent incident, some bought a second hand pc, in the hd of this pc was over 35,000 people's bank details, a disc was made %26amp; auctioned off on Ebay, the disc sold for 拢35.00.
Reply:They buy mailing lists. If you've given your email address to your cellphone network or internet provider or anything else that seems as legit, one of their sister companies or even an outside company can easily buy it off them.
TIP: Never ever give your email when you are filing in a personal info form. They never really need it.
